Went to grad school there and frequent visitor. I suggest staying at Williamsburg Inn or Williamsburg Lodge right in the colonial area. Can walk to coffee and restaurants. Then can drive to BG if you want. The weather that time of year could be nice or a bit chilly. Spend one day driving on Colonial Parkway to Yorktown and then to Jamestown. It's a nice spring break destination and we have done it a few times. You just need 3 days.

Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, Ghost Tour is fun, there’s a great BBQ place next to Great Wolf - can’t think of the name of it but you’ll see it if you Google, and highly recommend Sals by Victor for amazing Italian food. I would not stay at Great Wolf for a week - 2 days max/long weekend. Agree with Kingsmill or a hotel that has an indoor pool - Holiday Inn, Marriott etc just make sure it’s a newer property.

Make sure That you get the tickets for all of the Yorktown/Jamtown activities ahead of time because we will sell out. Many families use Spring break to tour these sites. Although it will be busy, it’s not stressful. Hope you guys have a great time!

We went during covid. It was great, and crowded! Kids loved the two Jamestowns Yorktown too. It’s a great area! Stay at the Williamsburg inn or lodge. Get carriage ride reservations in advance. Eat at the cheese shoppe.

OP here. Thank you, can someone please actually link to the “combo ticket”? I’m not finding it with a Google search. I know I’m being a pain, I’m just in pain and if people can include links and really spell things out for me, I’d appreciate it so much.

I agree with staying at Kingsmill and getting a combo ticket to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. There is a usually a week long ticket with unlimited access to both. If you are up for a day trip you can tour the Norfolk Naval Base which was really fun for us and also Hampton has a cool science center called Air & Space.

Colonial Williamsburg has classes for kids at the apothecary, millinery, kitchen etc that are hands on and fun. My kids really liked the kitchen one- it was decorating a cake using colonial tools and ingredients. Book them fast as they fill up and are offered maybe once a day. They also have musket shooting your kids may be old enough.

Ghost tour at night.

They may have their light show at the governors mansion. My kids liked that too.

Williamsburg + Busch Gardens have package deals so you can split your time between both. Worked out really well. 2 days each.
Also check out Jamestown - not the NPS site but the one that’s geared towards kids.
We did airbnb so can’t help with lodging.

I've done several vacations in Williamsburg.

Things I've enjoyed:
Day trip to Virginia Beach (depending on weather)
Trip to the Outlet Mall
Oceans & Ale restaurant by the Outlet Mall.

Busch Gardens. Must go to Oktoberfest show.

Enjoying the nearby rivers.

Stay at Kingsmill resort. They have an indoor pool and activities for the kids. They also have a shuttle to Busch Gardens. The restaurants on site are really good. One looks over the river.

If anyone has been to Williamsburg for spring break, would you kindly share full details with me? (Where you stayed, activities, restaurants?) Any recommendations would be really helpful.

I’m having a really time health-wise, but I am having surgery soon and anticipate being better by spring break. What I’d like to do is use this painful time to get it booked and out of the way so I can focus on healing, then enjoy when the time is here. So if anyone can recommend specifics, that would be so helpful so I can (to be perfectly honest) copy someone else’s logisitcs and planning for a trip that worked!

It will be DH, DD1 (10), DD2 (8) and me. Money/budget is not the biggest concern. By that time, I will hopefully be able to walk a lot, so walking/sightseeing are fine. Thank you!
