But ED I and II helps a lot at SLACs
I had a kid who seems similar and think bates is a reach that could work out, but Vassar was way too high a reach to consider. Vassar is HARD based on naviance.

As and Bs in core academic classes with several but not all APs. This is more about what is possible as opposed to fit. We will figure out fit as we go. The idea here is this isn’t a student with 1500+ and straight As in a heavy rigor course load, which seems necessary for top 10, maybe even top 20. He’s just a rung below all that perfection. But still a very strong student of course.

OP, we need more info - general vicinity of GPA, public or private? Does he want a big school or smaller school? Urban or rural? Warm or cold climate? What's the intended major? There are lots of options but frankly no one can give you good advice without more details.
