It's odd to me that it's not more widely distributed in DC. It's a cultural/political commentary that's being bandied as a front runner for best picture and has wide distribution in other major cities.

We saw it at Avalon Theater on Connecticut, as did our friends, but it deserves to be played at more mainstream venues also.


In DC it is apparently also showing at other less mainstream venues:

Alamo Drafthouse DC

Landmark E Street Cinema

Angelika Film Center & Cafe at Mosaic

There may be but for me a good satire explores social complexities in funny ways that highlight ironies and absurdities - this delivers.

I know people who are both die hard liberals and anti woke conservatives who enjoyed this movie.

It's playing at the Avalon. That's likely closer to you than Georgetown

I saw this yesterday with my 24 yo son and we loved it.

Satire was amazing, the caricature of stereotypes was spot on, depending on who you are, you as the watcher become part of the story.

I frickin love Isa Rae and Cord Jefferson.

If you like this you should watch the series Atlanta.

Best movie (along with Oppenheimer and Barbie)

We just saw American Fiction and really enjoyed it. Post BLM satire about stereotypical and flat ways that black Americans are depicted in novels.
