You need to keep a copy of the registration in the car. Just don’t keep the title there too.

Not exactly worried about that.. my cars are 20 and 13 years old!

Why can't it be left in the car? I says on it "keep this in your car."

Always. Got my license at 16 in VA, and currently 42. It's with my hard copy insurance card in the glove compartment. I've always done it this way.

No. I got a speeding ticket a few years ago (in VA) and the officer had no issue with me not having it with me. He just looked it up by plate. Valid registration, in my name. Wrote me the ticket and that was that. It was a local PD, maybe state police are stricter?

The officer warned me (gave me a ticket for the speed..) and said if I didn’t have registration they typically pull my license. But let me go.

I was a college kid and registered in VA. And my parents hadn’t sent me the new one. Still my fault for not being organized and on top of it. Because it had been months.

Everything I've read had said to keep physical registration at home (to make successfully stealing and reselling the car harder) and just keep a photo on your phone, but I'm pretty sure VA law requires you to present registration if you're pulled over. What do you do?
