There's a lot to be said, career-wise, with going to school in NYC. Buy a cheap studio coop in the Bronx, send your kid here and they're pretty much set up for a decent life without worrying about car payments or how to land internships.

I didn't go to school in NYC but in NYC, I worked with a lot of people who did.

I know a kid there now for engineering. Pull was NYC of course. He is happy there. Currently lives off campus. Complained about meal plain but happy in all other ways.

Despite the name, it's located in the Bronx. That's all I know.

Kid asked if they would waive app fee, and they did, so applied. Got great merit aid (no css, and fafsa not available yet, so don't know about need).

I did worry that most kids would be NY regional and that college may not be the best off financially, but it might have been a consideration, especially if kid wanted LAC. (Kid got into ED reach).

Our DCs attended one of the Hill independents near Manhattan College so drove by/through many times over the years. Great location a few blocks from the 1 line if a student wants to be in/near Manhattan but Columbia/NYU not an option. Lots of restaurants and bars for students.

Agree with PP that the student body may be heavy on metro NYC. Have also heard that the finances are not so strong, including the college shedding a dorm recently.

I had never heard of it until we met a couple ten years ago who both went there - they’re now some of our closest friends and loved it there we considered it for our kid but she wanted something smaller - it’s actually a good size- about 3000 students - which is kind of unusual.

I am asking more about the school, school's accomplishments, school academics, school social scene, neighborhood, how happy the students are, etc.
Thx.

And many brilliant kids whose families wish/need them to remain home.

The test score midranges and graduation rate are surprisingly good for a regional school with an 80+ percent acceptance rate.

23-30 for the ACT, and 73 percent graduate within six years.

Could be a viable option for a kid who wants NYC but doesn't have the stuff for Columbia, NYU or even Fordham.

And that’s everything? That tells you everything a prospective student would want to know? Faculty ratio, majors, dorms and food…none of that is relevant?
