A seller required signature for a laptop and fedex wouldn’t deliver (I was home for three days straight). They dutifully marked their fake deliver attempts though. I ended up having to pick it up at their location. Extremely annoying

To answer your question - no, people do not sign for deliveries anymore. In the case that you need that to happen, the sender has to stipulate that the delivery must be signed for & cannot be left. Depending on the carrier, that’s an extra fee.

This. I get a wine delivery 4x per year and I’m required to be home to sign for it. My new employer sent me a laptop and they required a signature for that. The sender decides if it’s required or not.

My MIL recently had a large check sent to her house (about half a million dollars) that, for some reason she didn’t want sent to her bank account electronically. Anyway, she was visiting us over the holidays and we took her back home on the day she was to expect the delivery (she doesn’t drive). When we pulled up, the envelope from UPS was sitting on her doorstep, having arrived earlier than expected.

This sounds kind of dangerous, no? What if someone snatched it before we got there? Why would something like that be sent without some verification that the receiving party actually…received it. Something like this has happened to us in the past, where we were sent very important documents relating to our adoption, and they were just dropped off.

Do recipients need to ask for confirmation of delivery? Or is it at the sender’s discretion.
