Yes we've cut back on eating out. The restaurants are not going to make it.

I eat out literally all the time in NYC and have not seen this. I call bullshit.
its the 20 percent service fee for all the staff with a note that says, tips are given directly to your server.

I take a nephew out every other month to a popular pizza restaurant (think 2 Amys) and while the pizza is good enough, I can't help think that I actually enjoy the frozen $6 pizza from Wegmans more. At a fraction of the price.
I stopped eating out or doing takeaways since the pandemic so the few times I do go out with people it's always a surprise how expensive it is and it also doesn't feel "worth" the cost although I have a good time with friends. I have a good income and it does make me pause when I realize how much it would cost a family of four to eat out at the same place.

I still eat out. I am not a good cook and have a lot of learning disabilities so doubt I'll get much better than I am at this point. I make sure I get things out that I can't make at home.

Agreed. We are like you and only ate out rarely anyway - maybe once a month as a treat. But it doesn't feel like a treat anymore. What we cook and eat at home is so much better! And if we're feeling lazy, there's nothing wrong with the occasional frozen pizza or something.

I was going over this year's expenses. We spent $4K going out to eat/takeout last year. That's absurd. The worst thing was there was only one memorable meal.
Our family gets takeout/eats out about once a week. This is going away in 2024. I'm going to start making dinners to pop in the freezer, or just stock up on Costco frozen stuff when I don't feel like cooking.

We stopped going out regularly when the pandemic shutdown started and have never gone back. I learned to cook really well and we don’t miss eating out in the least. Even with buying premium groceries we still come out ahead. The only place we are loyal to is Joes Noodle House.

Eating out has become crazy expensive. Now our eating out, when we do it once or twice a week, is stuff like the Wendy's $5 Biggie Bag, which is a pretty good deal (a burger, fries, nuggets and a drink for $5). Or Chick-fil-A or Taco Bell. Otherwise, we cook from scratch at home.

Agree with this.
The quality of food and cleanliness and the upcharges are not worth it.
We eat better and enjoy it more at home.

Agree. We went out for ramen at it was $21 a bowl for nothing to write home about.

Who else has drastically cut back on eating out? We cook our own meals often (and well, to be fair) but loved the occasional night out as a couple/family, or just me to go out to lunch with friends.
Just can’t anymore. Prices have increased so much and service/quality has decreased. It’s just no longer enjoyable nor economically feasible.
Even our favorite places have been slipping for the past year or so.
