Following as my teen son also looks greasy though he washes his hair daily. He has straight hair.
He uses Head and Shoulders which is what DH buys for him.
Does H&S leave a build up?
Seems like H&S is the go-to for lots of guys.
DS gets very indignant if I suggest he needs to rinse better

My 14 year old son (straight, oily hair) loves Native shampoo and doesn’t want to use anything else. I don’t see anything special about it personally, but its pretty toxin free and cheap so may be worth a try.

I agree that it might be your water because the ingredients of the H20+ shampoo are pretty run of the mill for a shampoo.
My kids hair that always looks dirty started using this and it seems to work well.

I think any sort of clarifying shampoo or one that mentions build up should work.

It actually may be your water OP (hence the improvement on vacation). Try a clarifying shampoo.

Loreal is like perfume for your hair.

Once a week I have my kid use Aveeno's ACV shampoo & conditioner which removes buildup. He uses a LOT of hair product during the week, so it helps. I don't recommend it as a daily shampoo; it is too drying over time.

He has fine, curly hair and uses the Bergamot shampoo and conditioner from The Seaweed company for normal use. It isn't heavy or greasy.

He also uses a nubby-tipped silicon scalp scrubber for each wash to make sure his scalp is getting nice and clean.

We recently switched to Teenology shampoo and it seems to work better than regular. Our son has very thick hair.

Is your house water really soft? That could be the difference. If you have soft water, he’d need to rinse a lot more to get the shampoo out and keep it from looking greasy.

Any good quality shampoo should be fine for a teen.

We have had a lot of trouble finding a good shampoo for DS (age 12). It always feels like there is a ton of build-up and his hair looks greasy. There might be an element of user error (either not rinsing well or not shampooing as often as he says he is) but we were on a Disney cruise last week and with the Disney H20+ stuff his hair was soft and fluffy and delightful. My husband always loved the H20+ stuff - I couldn't care less until I realized how much of a difference it made for DS's hair. We do have a few of the travel containers from when they provided those but probably just a few weeks' supply and now they have the dispensers on the wall. It's not available except on the ships and the resorts (or ebay for $$$$$).

Anyhow, has anyone found a shampoo that leaves a tween's hair looking and feeling good? Preferably something similar to the Disney stuff
