You know that this is just your hang up, right? It’s perfectly acceptable for women to dine at the bar themselves. I always do when I travel alone.


Or maybe she gets a lot of unwanted attention? (I am also a woman and this is why I don't eat at bars).

I prefer to sit with my back to the wall. Or at the bar near the wall if possible. I no longer accept being seated in a dark corner or near the bathroom.

I asked for a seat at the bar. When that is not an option, I sit with my back to the wall and people watch.

I travel weekly for work and nobody has ever attempted to adjust my seating preferences.

I’m traveling alone right now so I’m eating ant restaurants by myself. Every time I am seated by the wall, which makes sense because the small tables tend to be around the edges of restaurants, but I’ve noticed the host/hostess seem to indicate I should face the wall. Being alone I’d rather face out and people watch - am I supposed to be ashamed and face in instead? Is there an actual etiquette reason for this? Just curious!
