Yup. Every Christmas I traveled 350 miles home to a blaring TV and freezing house. My parents have been gone more than 10 years now and I wish I could be back there just one more Christmas.

Yes! The overly hot, overly loud house. And the parents shiffle around baffled why we are so uncomfortable after I say, Mom,it's hot in here and I can't hear you over all the TVs that are turned on.

It's almost funny when I'm not there.

My ILs house also has the TV on plus iPads going at the same time, but is exceptionally cold. And we sleep in the basement which has very little insulation. I love my flannel pajamas.

Yeah, I walk in to the house and turn off the TV . It goes back on eventually but everyone knows that I come in and look for the remote while giving out hugs.

My parents are in a new house and I’m nervous about going there on Tuesday since the TV is in a very central place in a smaller home.

OP here you don’t know me at all. I care for my parents an extraordinary amount. My father has health issues that I help my mom manage. He’s just rude and won’t turn the TV off when people come over and visit. And when people are trying to have a conversation he turns the volume UP and then gets mad he’s left out of the conversation

We did ask him to turn it down and he did just a tiny bit.

Turn it down yourself. I hate a loud TV.[/quote]''

And how do his parents then listen to the TV? The senses do diminish as we age. Why should the child overrule the parents' needs in their own home? Why should that child come on here to complain?

OP I sympathize! My grandmothers house used to be this 90 degrees of super dry heat. It was instant headache!
