I’m with you here and I would never have been able to divorce and maintain my standard of living if I hadn’t kept my career. It’s freeing. I can’t imagine having to rely on another adult for my well-being.

I was a stay at home wife. It works if you're moving to a new country.

Most of these women don't have careers. They're not giving up much.

I have a friend from college who has a stay at home fiancé. She won’t marry him with a prenup and he won’t marry without one. So she stays home and he pays all the bills. I think she’s a moron because she’s going to leave the relationship with nothing when she could at least have positioned herself to leave with something.

OP I can see it. When I was 29 I briefly dated a very pretty girl who had moved back home and was finishing up college. She had no job.

She stayed over quite a few times. She had no money but we had great fun in the bedroom and she cooked too. I did pay for everything.

It was so stress free. I honestly could have seen her moving on full time for a year.

My neighbor two doors down does. He moved in during his divorce about 18mos ago. New girlfriend was moved in within 6mos or so. She's like 20 years younger, and never leaves the house except occasionally with him. We are pretty sure she doesn't have a job (although I suppose a remote one is possible) and he seems to rely pretty heavily on her for child care. They fight a LOT, and the whole neighborhood talks about it (it's very loud).

In my entire life I have only known one woman who quit her job to prepare for her wedding, and then never went back to work.
