OP here. This is super, super helpful! Thank you! I’m a project manager not in this industry, but agree with your rec, and have had luck farming out various parts of smaller projects in the past. Given the small space I do want to make it as high quality as I can.

I specifically had this experience where the GC did a great job on flooring in my basement but the built in cabinets weren't great. I should have used a cabinetmaker.
Price-wise,
Designer $2-3k
Flooring (LVP or tile) $5k including baseboards
Painting $1k
Sheetrock ceiling with recessed lights $3k
Built-ins this is so widely variable based on materials and if it is a whole wall or just an “entertainment shelf” $5-10k
