I think the choice of words was rude. Who says something like you need to fill out the form correctly when it involves personal information like holidays and religion? They could have made it into a question instead of berating them for leaving it blank. Religion is sensitive right now with the war in Israel and Palestine.

If they left that part of the paperwork blank it's none of their business. Most people don't send their kids to a religious school and demand they make it secular. It's similar to asking immigrants where they are from right away.

+1 it's a church preschool. It's fine of them to ask.

Just go to one of the many secular preschools and daycares that exist.

Another take: sometimes it’s an innocent question meant to help you.

Ours does that to make sure that it can invite parents who celebrate different holidays in to lead celebrations in classrooms and/or so teachers can host celebrations. My child is at a Catholic school and usually gets to celebrate at least Diwali, Hanukkah, three kings and Lunar New Year. My family comes in to help with Lunar New year. There are a few kids who are orthodox christian so school has to work around their holidays, especially since their Easter comes after our spring break, plus Muslim kids if it’s a year when Ramadan overlaps with the school year.

Op here yes they do otherwise I wouldn't have received an email saying I need to let them know about any other holidays we don't celebrate. It's so rude to frame it like that.

I told her the school didn't need to know this information because we didn't expect the teacher to do anything differently. The director of the school then emailed me that I "need to fill out the form and not leave that information blank". They are mad about this and I think it ridiculous.
