Your wife is right - I think it's time for you to grow up and start acting like a responsible parent with two small children. Your priorities/criteria appear to have not changed much since you were a teenager and they need to.

But if you insist on not letting this part of you grow up, you need two cars - one she picks for the family and one you pick channeling you inner teenager/hillbilly.

+1 on Model Y. Go with Performance package and you will have a family car that will smoke most other cars on the road.

Where do you need to be driving with two young kids? They are safer at home.
Mazda Cx-5 would be a compromise- a little fun, or Tesla model Y.

Talked to a salesperson at the MB dealership and they said they have no E wagons and it will take 1 to 1.5 years for a custom order to get here. RIP.

If this isn’t your only car I would go for something sporty. Two of our three are manual and there’s nothing like it, if you can find one. We have a family car for carting around kids and dogs.

Thanks for the ideas. I never really thought of any of the wagons because they always looked a bit dorky to me, but I need to give them a look. The Golf R is still an option. Thanks!

You need a sport wagon. Audi RS6 (a bit our of your price limit), Audi A6 or A4 wagon, Volvo V60/V90. BMW used to make wagons but no longer. The Mercedes E Wagon is just at the limit of your budget. A Golf R would be cool but may be a little to small for your needs.
