I live Sally’s Baking Addiction, and her recipes have never steered me wrong.

Having said that, I always make Nigella Lawson’s

Emily Schuman of the Cupcakes & Cashmere blog makes one annually and posts the recipe - she’s got lots of practice at this point and they always look great

Oooh! I saved that one to try this year. Was planning to start it on Saturday, hopefully it turns out okay, never made one before.

I love smitten kitchen’s gingerbread one. And her instructions are great.

OP here.

Thanks all! I read the recipes and understand I need to roll the sponge when it's warm. I think I'll try the Sally's Baking Addiction one first, and see how it goes.

I just made the one on Sally’s baking addiction and it was great. I frosted with whipped chocolate buttercream instead of ganache.

They’re pretty much all decent; just be sure to roll it up when it’s warm, otherwise all is lost. Unless you wanted to do a sedimentary rock cake, then that would be perfect.

I've never made one. I've made layered mousse cakes and other stuff, but never a sponge that needs to be rolled.
Can you point me to a decent recipe?

Thank you!
