To the PP’s credit, it does say “select schools.” At my school, they haven’t been able to hire more than 1 person. They pay is lower than if that person tutored on their own - the FCPS pay is ultimately lower do to taxes, benefits, etc.

I retired last June and my school offered this position to me this fall. I would have probably taken it since I retired with the plan of doing some type of part-time work but I needed to have a 6 month separation period from when I retired. I wasn’t eligible.

FCPS is not going to provide anything other than tutor.com. Parents you are on your own to find ways to help your kids.

The number of students that will benefit from this program is minimal. If you can’t afford outside tutoring, then you can’t afford it; if you can, then pay for outside tutoring.

The idea with the state-level programs is that it's the schools responsibility because the school chose how long to stay virtual (despite being allowed to be in-person) during school year 2020-2021. Given that many, many studies have now piled up showing that closing doors lead to drastic learning loss, the idea is the schools are supposed to fix the problem they - wittingly or unwittingly - helped to create.

People on the Arlington forum are talking about getting letters saying their child failed an SOL and is eligible for ALL IN tutoring. My child has failed the SOLs but I've heard nothing from the school. After I inquired, I was told that the school evaluates data regularly and I would be informed if my child qualifies for pull outs. It sounds like, based on what is on the VDOE site, my child is eligible for tutoring. How do we get this?? Is FCPS just going to tell me to use "tutor.com" which isn't even real tutoring?
