This is basic gym knowledge. The old timers don’t like it. No young person is going to balk at this and knows the code. Also, don’t touch other people’s property first and foremost.

I don’t get it either. Most people at my lift-heavy gym have bags they carry around, too.

Both are wrong.

You aren’t supposed to bring bags on the gym floor. It’s a hazard.

I think it’s ok to work in between a set, but it sounds like he may have thought no one was using the machine and that the bag was yours. He should have asked you if it was ok if he moved it, however maybe he thought you were being rude by blocking the machine with your bag. Are there no lockers?

Weird that he touched the bag, weird that he still decided to work in between her set

Went to the gym with a friend. It wasn’t very busy, most machines were open. We selected weight machines right next to each other, we were going to alternate. My friend placed her duffel bag in front of the machine, close to where her feet would be if she was using it. She said the part of the machine she had to grab felt sticky, so she ran to grab a sanitizing wipe. Immediately a man came over and proceeded to grab her bag and move it. I quickly stopped him and said, excuse me but my friend is using that machine, that’s her bag, and she just ran to grab a wipe. He said, well can I get in set a she’s not even here. I told him to knock himself out. My friend returned while he was in the middle of his set, and then he left.

I’m curious who was wrong in this situation?
