That has worked for me.
In higher fashion brands I'm often 12 or 14. I'm most other brands, I'm an 8. In brands like old navy and lands end in often a 6.

I like lands end bathing suits that specify cup sizes since I'm very much an hourglass. there's generally a few that have DD options and I go for those with a size 6 suit. Or sometimes 6 on top and 8 on bottom depending on where it hits.

Measure and use the size chart, it’s accurate. For lands end, I mean. Size charts usually are though. I’m shocked by how many people on dcum seem to use the size numbers and don’t look at the size charts. They actually vary a lot between brands! Especially when there’s an “international conversion.”

I can't seem to fit the perfect fit. Using the OPs example, the 6-8 would be too small and the 10-12 would be too large. So annoying.

I just got a swim suit in the mail. I used the size chart and a measuring tape. It’s right on but a bit tight around the legs, I mean I think that’s just how swimsuits fit. If you want it a little looser maybe go up.

Their stuff runs so big! I’d size down for a regular fit, or your normal size if you want a roomier fit.

Are you looking at one pieces? I have a few two pieces (tankini and high waist bottom) from LE. I'm a size 8 or 10 in jeans and get an 8 bottom. I'm a small or medium on top (small shoulders, big boobs) and get a 6 top. Personally I love the separate tops because of this, each piece fits well.

Yes, I'd get a 6-8. It's what I do for tshirts etc and it works fine.

I haven’t tried this post-COVID, but LE customer service reps are very good at answering questions like this, and can often even give you garment measurements for specific items. You can read customer comments as well, which may give you information re: items that run true to size or not.

In general, assume that items with multiple sizes — like 6-8 — will comfortably fit the largest size. So anything sized 10-12 will comfortably fit a 12. If you’re genuinely a 10, or between an 8 and a 10, then 6-8 will probably be too small, and 10-12 might be a bit loose. Some of this is preference. It’s hard to answer this accurately without knowing what kinds of clothing you’re interested in. I’d suggest comparing your measurements with the measurements. For a cover-up, I’d probably go larger, but it would depend on the material and cut. I haven’t seen bathing suits with double sizes like 6-8. I’d probably go up a size since bathing suits in general often seem to run small. Maybe order both? There’s a store in Rockville that can handle immediate returns.

For bathing suits I would not size down--tight means a big elastic cut on your thigh area which can make the leg look like it has two rolls.

Agree they run big. I always get mediums, and I’m … not a medium.

It's been awhile since I shopped on lands end. The women's sizing seems to run 2-4, 6-8, 10-12, etc.

I am normally an 8 or 10. I am not sure if I should be 6-8 or 10-12 - I am never a 6 nor a 12!

This is for bathing suits and cover ups if that makes a difference.
