I have a pair of light wash denim that I cut and wear with a raw hem. It’s a nice change from the dark denim I usually wear. It’s good to mix up your look instead of always wearing the same thing.

I really don’t think raw hem jeans, cutting them or not, can qualify as “fashion.” I think it’s great, go nuts, but it’s not fashion. It’s just denim that you cut with scissors. Cutting the sleeves off a sweatshirt to make a vest for lifting weights in the garage isn’t fashion either.

I can’t believe there’s a fashion forum at all considering how people dress in this area. People don’t seem to know the basics, let alone the trends.

YES - I'm short and I love being able to cut them to fit and then wash a few times until the fringe is right.

Mostly I find it ridiculous how many people on the fashion forum are ANGRY at current fashion trends. Like I don't think anyone has to adopt any particular trend, and in fact I ignore plenty of trends as not right for me personally, whether because they don't look right on me or because they don't suit my personal style.

But I'm not mad at them. Who cares? It's an option. If other people want to where them, great.

The pair I have are just the right length so I never cut them. My only question is whether the hems still stays clean if you cut them? One thing I like about mine is that while it's a raw hem, it seems to reinforced or something because it maintains the exact right amount of fray and I never have to trim it or get rid of longer strings like I used to have to do with cutoffs when I was younger. That would be my main concern with cutting them.

I like the look. I wear mine at ankle length with a straight leg and I wear fitted Chelsea boots with a taller shaft underneath. It's a great casual look in winter with an oversized sweater and a cross body bag. Mine are black so I mostly just wear them in the winter time.

No I think the style for those is to leave them as is. I think they only work if you are short, otherwise there is a long, long line of jean then an irregular hem.

This is what my DD does. She’s 5’10 and buys “tall” and has gotten some that are too long, so she cut about 1/2 inch off. She says they need to be different lengths depending on her shoes.

I have done that before. I also sometimes get them hemmed to remove the raw hem look.

You could, I guess that’s a benefit.

Are these intended for you to cut to whatever length fits? I like some but they are too long for flats. Would I just cut them more myself?
