Per the handbook referenced:

Twice-exceptionality is not specifically addressed by any federal, state, or local regulations.
FCPS does not formally identify students as 2e, but rather provides a continuum of advanced
academic services, and, concurrently, special education services or Section 504 Plans to
students who need both. Eligibility for services is independently determined by the Advanced
Academic Programs (AAP) office and the Department of Special Services, following
procedures outlined in state legislation and local regulations.

TJ is getting better but it has far to go regarding students with IEPs.

Fwiw, there are lots of 2e kids in AAP, which makes sense since one of the ES is for gifted.

Having a child that is 2E keeps you on your toes all the time. You have no idea how much more involved it is to parent a non NT child. The extra expenses for therapy, constant meetings with school, medication management and ect…..

My child is in the only one in their grade with an IEP and in AAP. Don’t ask how I know, but I know. IEP was established after child was admitted to AAP.

Child was in pool, I believe child got in AAP because of scores and not GBRS. I think the school thought we prepped for NNAT and COGAT. The evaluation for IEP included the WISC, which showed a 99% IQ. Only then the school realized child was truly smart but with difficulties in certain areas. Principal at the IEP meeting, made a comment how the IQ was in line with test scores and the school would support 2E child.

If the test scores are high - I think it "helps." If two kids have the same test scores - I think they'd lean towards accepting the one with the IEP first as more needed of special services.

It’s data. I don’t know that it’s motivation to have more “IEP kids.”
