Mine was invited to after school tutoring to finish the apps. Would you all go for this?

What does this mean?

I assume it means she/he will send their kid to the tutoring and if it is just lexia they will stop sending them.

No, the letter came home in his weekly folder. Our kid is also in 3rd grade. I think all elementary students took the current year of information, so I do think most qualified. I was talking to a teacher and she said it flagged everyone for tutoring who scored what would amount to a 475 on the SOL and below. I think passing is 400 so it is a large amount of kids.

Eligibility for this program was so broad that even gifted kids were found “eligible.”

At our school it’s a combination of Lexia and small group, 1:1 instruction.

The fact that APS is trying to solve my child’s reading issues via an app after APS caused my child’s reading problems by closing school for a year and pretending to teach them (via an app) is just one more reason we are leaving for private school. Sorry to the rest of you.

Oh interesting. Our letter doesn't say the method so I guess it's not a standard letter. But for what it is worse the governors office provided a list of acceptable "tutoring programs" and Lexia was given as an example. I know folks are quick to hate APS but it was instructions given by the State.

My kids letter also said afterschool (but no idea what time). We do private tutoring two days a week so I am a but worried four days of tutoring will be exhausting. I figure we will give it a try.

They probably mean an app with a virtual tutor. Which one on one for a kid of a certain age, this could be fine. Depends on the kid.

There is a shortage of people doing this work while demand is skyrocketing. Even at private school. Reality check. Can’t buy your way out of everything.

I believe APS is seeking to hire in-person tutors for this, though they don’t need to be teachers.

Oh that would be nice! We have to say we are in by Tuesday so I guess I will agree and then he just won't go if it's app based.

We got a letter today that our kid qualified for reading tutoring due to his fall VGA scores as part of the ALL in Tutoring initiative. The school said he would qualify for two days a week of tutoring afterschool but gave us zero details on what the program would entail. Has anyone else gotten such a letter? How does this work at your school? I don't want to keep him after school two days a week for lexia.
