Subject: Carmine's vs Bucca di beppo vs Margiannos
I’ve only been to Maggiano’s. It’s probably not the most authentic Italian, but I like it. My only gripe is for Italian, it’s a little pricey and I think they give you too much.

Carmine’s is similar in that it serves family style portions. The big difference is that everything at Carmine’s is made from scratch there in the kitchen. Nothing frozen. It is owned by one family and is part of a 5-restaurant group - not a corporate chain. Far superior to the other places mentioned.

I like Bucca di Beppo.
Carmine's is good but it's family style, meaning all of the dishes serve 2-3 people. So you have to pick something that everyone will eat.

I've been to the Carmine's in DC and to Maggiano's in Tysons -- and I've been to both more than once.
I very much prefer Carmine's to Maggiano's (even though I have fond memories of eating at the original M's in Chicago). However, I'd probably go with wherever is convenient for you.

I like Maggiano's in a "I know it is bad for you, but tastes so good" kind of way. Very family friendly and big, big menu. Lots of things from which to choose. I don't know Carmines as well, but I have been there and I think it is very similar to Magliano's. I would choose based on which location is better for you.

I just learned Bucca di Beppo in DC closed. We have family with kids who loved to go there when visiting who are coming back soon and asked to go. Is Carmine's near Gallery Place similar?
Anyone willing to share how the food compares at those two versus Maggianos? I know some people probably look down their noses and think Bucca di Beppo was a not good chain, but there were several dishes I legitimately enjoyed, plus the atmosphere was fun with young people. I've only been to a Maggianos once and had catering once and my impression was not good, but I'm willing to consider.
