They’re going to cancel I am sure. My spouse took a couple of lessons and they would only fly in perfect circumstances. They cancelled a lot.

I’d be a nervous wreck in good weather and a basket case in bad weather. If it’s bad I’d cancel.

That's really too bad. It's actually really fun. Look up the Young Eagles program - I did it as a child and had a blast. And I fly with my dad regularly.

Call the pilot and ask! Scheduled rain doesn't mean it will be rainy.

FWIW, my dad is a pilot and part owner in a small plane, and ALL plans are subject to change/cancellation the day of based on weather. He would NEVER take someone up who was 1. uncomfortable, 2. is young and has a parent who is uncomfortable, or 3. when the weather isn't cooperative. Rain isn't an automatic No for my dad, but if the clouds are too low, or there's fog nearby, flying is out.

Talk to the pilot about their comfort in bad weather (and if YOU are uncomfortable with their answer, don't EVER fly with them), what happens if the weather isn't good enough to go up (probably you'll reschedule), and when they make that call (my dad makes it the day of, because weather forecasts can change).

I have to agree that poor visibility is a huge risk for small planes and copters. Please cancel if it's going to be anything other than calm, sunny and clear (a passing shower is fine, but cloudy with continuous rain, or windy, is not).

I have no idea, but this seems more like a piloting question than a parenting question. You might get better responses if you ask Jeff to move your post to Off-Topic, Cars and Transportation, or even Travel.

I hope you find someone knowledgeable who can help you.

GA is one of the most dangerous hobbies, and I would not do it under less than ideal circumstances.

I too would cancel OR at least cancel if its actually raining when they go.

My 7 year old is scheduled to fly with a pilot in a small plane that takes 2 people (pilot and SC) only. And, the weather forecast is not good this sunday, most likely raining. Should I cancel?
