Changing hormones. Get thee to an OB/GYN who is menopause.org certified. Just because it's age related doesn't mean something can't be done about it.

Are you on an anti-depressant? That can affect things.

Get with your doctor before you try anything beyond lube. I’ve found that with the right medication and lube sex can still be very enjoyable but PIV can’t last more than five minutes otherwise it can hurt. But, that’s fine with my husband because by then he’s well along. Also, there are plenty of ways to enjoy sex without PIV.

It’s a thing! Localized vaginal estrogen cream will help. I also use testosterone cream in a women’s dose and that helps, too.

Also no one tells us how we dry up - no natural lubricants. None. DH used to insist that he could “DIY” like in the early days (I’m menopausal since 44!) but I will no longer even think about PIV or anything else w/o lube. No lube=no sex.

Did you start any new medications?

Yes, one of the things they never tell you about getting older. I have heard people use an estrogen cream (prescribed by the doctor).

I am 43 and noticed a slight loss in libido, but not anything usual. My husband and I have been together for 15 years and we go through dry spells here and there. I also masturbate during those spells. In the past few months, I’ve been less interested in masturbating as well. When I do get the urge, I noticed the last few times I just never achieved orgasm and I simply got bored and stopped. After this happened 3-4 times I started to get concerned and found out your clitoris can actually stop working and now I’m feeling super low and stressed out about it.
