Girls sync cycles, but a cisgender boy can't get a period and therefore can't share a cycle.

It's also ok for a girl not to share that info, same as she could decide to share or not share with anyone that she has a headache, she can't swim, dairy gives her a stomachache, or what size she wears.

I can see my 15 year old joking about it with male friends. I don’t imagine her discussing serious details though.

I don't know why it would matter, but it's not wrong to talk about it.

PP, social boundaries have changed on this. I was in a class where an 8th grade teacher had a drawer at the front of the classroom labeled, "pads and tampons;" I saw a sign at another school saying, "This is a period-positive school" next to the supplies in the bathroom. My daughter says she and her friends talk about specific period stuff all the time, and it was helpful for her when she got hers.

Why should it be odd and private for girls to share something that happens to them every month? Just because it comes from a vagina doesn't mean it's sexual. I think it's a sign of good comfort between a boy and a girl that she could share this. And lucky boy for whomever he's in a relationship with in the future--he can be more understanding.

That is definitely odd and I would wonder why. Definitely TMI and pushing social boundaries, but it is benign.
