A cash or cash equivalent gift looks a lot like a bribe. This is why, at least in government, you can’t give gifts of more than $5 or so to your supervisor (including buying lunch or drinks)—as they’re rating you, it would be improper to give them anything of meaningful value.

Seriously—don’t do it. It’s improper and will place the teacher in an awkward spot.

Holiday money gift cards to drivers is ok as they work hard to ensure safe bus rides. There is no concern of indirect influence as they dont give out grades to students, unlike teachers. Drivers may or may not celebrate Christmas, so add a generic Holidays and Happy new year greeting message.

Sure your daughter can show her appreciation by using her own effort in the class just like other students, not using your money

Trader Joe’s teachers are just regular employees do training as part of their job. No need to give extra gifts.

As devout Christian, I have issues with this part. This is why non-believers think we are "weird" and pushy.
I would not give anything in December, as it looks like a "bribe" for second semester. But if you insist, don't make it Christmassy.... just say "Happy Holidays".

I think the better gesture is to give a gift at the end of the year, saying "Thanks!"

My daughter really is lucky because she always has the great teachers from her kindergarten until now. Before, she only sent a box of chocolate bought from Costco and a Christmas card on which she wrote appreciated words and drew beautiful pictures to her every teacher. This year, we think it is the best to send a gift card instead of a box of chocolate because it is easier to take at her full and heavy backpack. She is shy and kind, and hope to show her appreciation and thanks for all her great teachers by sending them Christmas gifts!

TJ teachers should get 40-45% more in gift money than teachers at the other high schools because everyone there is so much more nice, great, careful, and responsible.
