Do you have an IEP in place? YOu are better off in public unless you can show they are not able to meet your kid's needs. Save tuition money and get private tutoring and therapy

My advice is to apply to the school that you think is the best fit for them and apply for financial aid. That is how you make it more "affordable". It is expensive, for certain.

Lol, the admissions people there couldn't usher us out of the door fast enough once we mentioned the need for accommodations for some learning challenges.

I think it's a rare unicorn to find any school below $20K anywhere around here - regardless of learning issues. You can apply for financial aid, though, so seriously consider that. You are likely to get at least some money off of the full tuition.

Springwell is relatively inexpensive compared to most places and is small, so it might be an option. They also have a sliding tuition scale.

There may be some in Prince George's - I think Friends Community School is slightly more affordable than most private schools in MoCo, for example.

Mary of Nazareth if you aren’t opposed to Catholic. Under 10,000. But be prepared for 25,000+ for high school with friends

His attention is impacting his reading comprehension and writing. He is still considered on grade level by MCPS but map scores are declining. We started meds but are still working to find the right dosage.

Low cost and accommodations don’t go together because accommodations are expensive for schools if done correctly.

You could try Seneca Academy- though be very clear up front about issues and how they could accommodate. They don’t advertise for special needs so depends on the severity. It’s around $20-25k a year.

What kind of learning issues? Looking to enter immediately or sixth grade?

My child is in upper elementary in moco and has some mild learning issues. I feel like he is falling further behind over time. Is there a rare unicorn of a private school in moco that is affordable (under 20k) that does a good job with mild learning issues?
