I've had insurance where nothing related was covered, but the drugs for FET were, so confirm that. Where is the embryo you want to transfer? At a clinic elsewhere? They'll be able to tell you how payment works when you monitor locally and then transfer with them, since this isn't really uncommon anymore.

FET meds are not expensive compared to the meds for stims. Think a few hundred vs the thousands for the actual IVF cycle.

I think that you would just be paying double. Monitoring appointments at Dominion are over $700 per visit, and your clinic will be overseeing the case so the cost of monitoring is going to be included in their package. For example, Columbia Fertility was $9k this year for an IVF cycle without any freezing. Your cost would be $9k plus $700 times x days of monitoring, plus last minute travel and accommodations. Really isn't something that was all realistic for my husband and myself due to limited income and having a very demanding work schedule.

FET is usually 5-10K with drugs

1. What was your self-pay total out-of-pocket cost (including meds) for FET?

2. If there is anyone who traveled for your FET, how did you manage the preparation and follow-up? (Did you pay the full FET rate twice?)

Ideally I would only pay for drugs and monitoring at home and then fly out for the transfer in another city.

However, my understanding is that the services typically are not itemized to accommodate this situation and even if they were, it would not be any cheaper than the FET “package” rate so, you basically pay twice?
