I alternate ride days and strength days and then do one yoga class a week. I also alternate between the lifting type strength classes and the barre/Pilates strength classes.

I aim for a 50/50 mix of strength and cardio (I have the bike and the tread) but I don't make myself do alternating days. I use the challenge badges to keep myself honest. First I fill up gold in strength and running. That normally takes me the first 3 weeks of the month. Then I aim for silver in cycling. This system works for me to be sure that I'm cross training.

What is your goal here? If it's just general health and fitness and looking good, then I think you should just alternate strength and biking each day/workout session. This is what I do (using the strength and HIIT classes on the Peloton app in addition to the rides - 30 mins per workout) and I'm really happy with the way I look and feel. I'm 35 with two kids and on a recent vacation my long-time friends said, impromptu, that I looked better than ever. However, I am not the level of fit to win any kind of lifting contests or do a long-distance ride/run. If you have particular fitness goals, you should think about what they are and shift your workout plan accordingly more towards strength or riding.

I run 30-45 min and do hardcore and you’re right, it’s about 70-90 minutes of daily exercise. If you have to keep it to 45, I would stick with daily core, the HC 10 min class on the calendar for GL and upper body days (so 4 days/week) and do a 25-30 min ride on those days. On the active rest days, I’d do a longer ride and core. On wknds maybe you can do long ride and some 20 min classes you missed during the week.

Peleton strength classes are great. I know you said you have 45 min, but if you can do a little longer thr 60 minute Andy Speer strength classes are really good.

Why not do their strength classes? I enjoy them. I will do a 20 minute run class and then 20 minutes of strength, or whatever I feel like doing in the time I have. Fortunately Peloton has a LOT of 20 minute classes.

I alternate running and strength so I do one or the other every other day.

I do a 3 Day Split program (currently Speer’s Advance 3 day split) and bike 3 days. I also do one or two 30 minutes walks every day.

I do a 30 mins ride followed by a 10 or 20 min strength class depending on my schedule then 5 min core class. Definitely not fewer than 45 mins a day and done. Some days I use the tread or a boot camp but I follow the same guidelines.

Today I did a 30 minute ride (rest day). I follow the hard core calendar only in theory- Monday and Friday leg day, Tuesday and Saturday arms, Wednesday full body, Thursday and Sunday rest. I love the 15 minute rides because I can do that and a strength class pretty easily. Rest days I’ll do yoga or cycling or cardio with Rebecca Kennedy. I just make sure I’m doing some form of strength 5 days a week and always at least 20 minutes of strength.

I follow the hard core calendar and do the bike on the full body or rest days, unless I happen to have the extra time to tack on a ride that day. Strength is my focus and I do the bike mainly for the mental benefits - I love riding! I just can’t fit it in every day.

If you are happy with your fitness, what does this look like for you? We got a Peloton recently and I'm really enjoying it, to the point where I would love to ride daily and do nothing else...but I realize that is probably not the best for my fitness and some strength training is necessary. Before we got the bike I did the HardCore schedule but that is totally strength-focused and it seems that people who do both strength and cycling with it are working out for more than an hour a day. I realistically have 45 minutes - how should I mix strength and rides?
