I agree — I’d do $200 - 250. Next year I’d probably do the equivalent of a week’s pay — so at least whatever she’s earning for those two days a week, rounded up — so, about $350, perhaps with a small, more personal gift.

I agree with the PP; I’d pay $250. I’ve never found a downside to being generous with caregivers.

Any other suggestions here or did the PP largely nail it?

We live on the eastern shore of Maryland in one of the poorest counties of Maryland (i.e. low pay.)

Also be aware it is challenging to get weekend caregivers. It is much easier to get weekday caregivers.

Since she started in November and FIL really likes her I'd go minimum $100. I'd go up to $250.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I asked her if she liked her in order to convey that this would be a good time to let the young woman know - more than a "thank you and have a good night" at the end of the shift.

Interested in others' experiences, but, PP, thank you for this solid reply.

My MiL just asked me how much she should give for a holiday bonus for the caregiver who comes from 9-5 on Satudays/Sundays. The young woman started in November and earns $20/hour. MiL really likes her, so I want to suggest an amount that signals that.

Appreciate suggestions from people currently giving out bonuses for weekend hires. TIA.
