Here's how I get waves and volume in my thin straight hair. Mine is chin-length so I bought the smaller curling attachment from Sephora (it doesn't come with any AirWrap that I've seen). You would probably be OK with the smaller of the two curling wands that come with the AirWrap.
1. Wash and towel dry hair, let air dry a little while I do skin care/makeup. Don't let it dry too much, you want it pretty damp for this.
2. Separate hair into two sections, clip up top layer. Spray Oribe dry texture spray thoroughly over the bottom layer. Don't skimp on this step!
3. Use curling attachment on bottom layer. It will dry your hair as it curls. Spray hair spray over curled dry hair.
4. Unclip top layer, spray dry texture spray, then curl/dry with attachment, spray with hair spray.
5. Let hair cool and set for as long as you can, then run fingers through it to break up the curls into waves.
All that takes me about 5-7 minutes (I timed it after someone here didn't believe me!). It would probably take a bit longer on thicker/longer hair. It's fast enough that I actually do my hair now after decades of wearing it in a bun 80% of the time.

Not sure about the air wrap, but I bought the Dyson blow dryer from Costco. It was on sale a few months ago for $299 I think, with all of the attachments. it’s a great deal for my family, because my two daughters and I can all use it. We have thick curly hair and it is fast and dries straight with less heat.
For me, with an investment this much, I only trust Costco.

Bought the Dyson airwrap. I'm a 47 year old professional, and have thinning shoulder-length Asian hair that I always put in a bun/ponytail. Tried curling with a curling iron for a special event, and it looked amazing (beachy waves), but I don't think I can do that on a regular basis (required lots of heat/hairspray).
Which airwrap attachment would work for easily creating curls/beachy waves ?
