When are parents and kids going to be told about this by MCPS? And why does it appear to vary from school to school

I know! It's so wonderful that we can now ensure these good-for-nothings get an F- instead of F. Honestly, you think they'd have better things to worry about.
Professor here. This change will help prepare kids for college, where they have to make an effort in order to earn points.

Anonymous wrote:At my HS school we had a staff meeting and were told that we can now give 0%'s for no effort or "not meeting minimum standards" i.e. a kid turning in an assignment with just a name or with only one question answered. We just have to notify home by email or remind. No need for two-way communication anymore. This is to avoid a situation where a kid doesn't come to school or skips but is still getting 50% all quarter.
So, yes. There is no default automatic 50% for no work. But it if a kid makes an effort we still have to give a minimum grade of 50%.
