Checking out how may times the lawyer is in court is a good strategy. You can check the friday Motions calendar in NoVa, which is public. Or google your lawyer with “Virginia of Appeals” . This will tell you if the person likes to litigate. Litigators love to fight and litigate. That is what they do. Even to negotiate… they litigate. They don’t care if their gains outpace their bill to you. They are risk junkies. Don’t let them gamble with your money.

What exactly do you need them to look over? What issues are you concerned about will bring you to litigation? Get the checks in hand and then sign.

You don’t know what you are talking about. QRDOs can be done by software or even Excel. I did my own with no training.

Be sure that you and whoever you hire fully understands what a QDRO is and how important it is to get one done correctly if needed in your particular situation. Most divorce attorneys don't have a clue about these and will just refer it out to a service that produces cut and paste QDROs.
