Most doctors office are use to generating these quickly. They don’t contain any key data besides appoint date and time and doctors signature.

Yes. Chronic absenteeism is a crisis in school districts nationwide, including MCPS. It’s been all over the news.
Go back and get a doctor’s note, or live with the unexcused absence. But you’re not going to be exempt from the policy.

Even dentists give them after a cleaning.

Ok just my paranoia - I saw this was announced to the whole school in September

+1 just let it be "unexcused." What are they going to do about it anyway?
Their policies are so unclear and they focus on the wrong things.

Do you feel it was because of “the battle” you are going through? If so, is there any way to make amends? That would be horrible to feel uncomfortable going into your child’s school. Sorry you’re dealing with this!

Our mcps school absence form says this:”Fill out this form to let us know that your child will be absent and/or missing instruction. Please remember that MCPS requires a doctor’s note for all students absent 5 days or more.” Never been asked for a note, and I think it was marked as “excused” when I listed illness as reason, even without note.

In a nasty battle with the school (long story) Brought child in from a doctor's appointment and the secretary hassled me about showing a doctor's note. My child is rarely absent and I don't remember ever being asked for one before. She said the system is cracking down on this. Was curious if other people have recently been asked for doctor's notes?
