I'm not sure if FCPS or FCPD acted properly or improperly here according to the rules but it's pretty hard to condemn them for keeping a suspected murderer out of the school.

You do you.

So you didn't read. FCPD, that corrupt organization, is accusing FCPS of tipping off a student by telling him he could not come to school because he was accused of murder with a firearm. FCPS did their job, which is to protect students from alleged murderers. It's not FCPS's fault that police did not search the home of the student in time to find more evidence. Standard procedure is to secure evidence ASAP, and FCPD messed up badly, and even worse, it's now trying to point fingers elsewhere.

Disgusting.

It was MPD's case not FCPD's. FCPD acted at the behest of FCPS. MDP hadn't made any request that FCPD conduct a search yet. MPD was slow, FCPS wasn't. I'm fine with FCPS not waiting on MPD

I know we're dealing with a teenager here, but what kind of murderer wouldn't have gotten rid of the evidence already?

Drug pick-up gone bad? The kid should have packed up and headed to Mexico, he had to know that he was going to get caught.

What do you want Fairfax to do differently? Welcome an accused murder to class?

Agreed 100% We are not a West Potomac family, but I am glad that FCPS made sure the student would not be allowed to return to school.

This is what happens when police don't do their job properly. The detectives should have been ready to execute the search warrant before or at the time they alerted the school that one of their students was suspected of murder. The school did its duty by telling the student, ASAP, that he could not return to school, and gave the reason, which they are obliged to do. The school could not wait, since waiting could have resulted in a school shooting.

It's the police here that's trying to cover up their mistake. If they don't have the resources to get a search warrant in time, and execute it, that's THEIR problem, which then become OUR problem.

We need to properly fund, hire and train our police departments, because otherwise we're left with these idiots and criminals run rings around them.

Sounds like MPD botched the communication with Fairfax. Unclear why they didn’t just arrest him once they had enough information to go to Fairfax PD? Also interesting that he is being tried as an adult.

"According to court documents, MPD alleges that school officials had Fairfax County Police go to the Inabinet's home to tell the teen he could no longer attend school while under investigation for Lewis's murder. This tipped Inabinet off to the investigation a week before MPD executed a search warrant at the teen's home, which they claim gave him time to get rid of evidence connected to the deadly shooting. "

So MPD is mad because FCPS kept the kid out of school? As someone with a kid in FCPS, I'm glad they sent FCPD to make sure he knew he wasn't allowed back at school.

Hard call by FCPS, they can't let a kid about to be arrested for murder to continue coming to school, but by tipping him off they allowed him to cover up evidence.
