I would get them each neutral pants. Columbia is a great brand, but lots of other suggestions here are good.

Then I'd get them a gift card so they can pick out their own jackets.

Think we are doing this for my 20something, too!

Hot Chili's for first layers
Nils is the only female specific ski-wear brand, great designs and colors, outstanding fit. It's mid-high range in price. You can get discounts on previous year styles.
Disagree with the Roxy recommendation, which is for teenage girls.
Helly Hanson is great for guys ski attire, also mid-range
I disagree that you should cheap out, ski wear can last years (unless they gain a ton of weight) even if they only ski 5-6x a year, so get something nice.

Wouldn't a 20 yr old want to pick their own colors? I'm even picky about the base layer colors. I'd suggest getting them nice ski socks and a gift card

They are skiers (I assume that is two-planker?).

OP

Not Patagonia it’s a fantastic company but not what twenty something’s wear skiing

Go to a ski store

Burton or The North Face or Columbia

Sun and Ski is a great shop to at least get info

Hot Chili’s are the brand for under clothes

Are they snow boarders or two-plankers? Isn’t there a difference in how these two communities express themselves fashion-wise?

Uniqlo has the #1 BEST long underwear. it is called Heat Tech. Get the regular weight - not the heavy one.

Stio and Patagonia are both super expensive. Great products, but seems overkill for occasional skiers. For someone in their 20s, I would probably get Roxy, Flylow, Burton, 686, NorthFace, Columbia, etc. I would look on evo.com or sierra.com or maybe REI in person.

Another vote for Stio. My jacket is Stio and it's very high quality. Their colors tend to be muted, although my jacket is pink. It's not cheap though.

Ski clothing for 20 something's tends to be less garish unless they are going for an 80's vibe (there is a place that sells retro ski outfits). A lot of grey and beigey brown pants. White is popular for women's pants.

Stio sounds up your alley but try a ski store. Most other big online brands overdo the color palette

Patagonia and Stio are both popular with slightly preppy 20-somethings. Both brands are high quality.

DS is a recent college grad and DD is a junior in college. I want to get them some new ski clothes (jacket and pants, although I guess undergarments helpful, too?) for Christmas but won't see either until right before the holiday so can't shop with them. No matter what I'll get gift receipts but I'd like to give them the jackets/pants to unwrap on Christmas day.

I'd appreciate ideas for brands, even colors (I know a lot of ski gear comes in bright colors, but neither of my kids wear bright colors in their day to day clothes). In non-ski life, both are "average," slightly preppy/conservative dressers. I'd like to get them good quality but not "trendy" ski clothes, hopefully these will last each of them until they are making enough income on their own to replace when needed

I don't ski so don't have ideas of what typical gear looks like, but both of my kids enjoy going with friends and I expect that will continue for them.

Thanks for advice!
