If Biden stays in the race and becomes the nominee, which is very likely at this point, he does have a 50/50 chance of beating Trump. If Trump somehow doesn't become the GOP nominee, Biden would have slim chances against most of the other GOP potential candidates. The best Dems can hope for is Trump becoming the GOP nominee as that would give Biden the best chances at being re-elected and a Trump nomination would also provide for a relatively easy path to victory for any other Dem nominee should Biden change his mind and back out of the 2024 race.

You meant to say our republic, right? Democratic republic. Of course, for many years we seem to pick and choose which laws passed by our democratic republic will enforced/ignored. Hard to say we live by laws if we choose to ignore them.

What I find hilarious is that the Americans are backing the two candidates who could only beat each other. And you double down on it!

I’m confident that dems will never lose another national election again.

There will still be heavily republican districts in red states that will never plausibly be taken by dems, but I’m confident that dems will never lose another toss-up district again. The numbers will always break for dems.

The DNC has supported successful elections in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Yes, flawed candidates, gerrymandering, voter suppression are all issues. The country faces an existential threat in the MAGA led GOP and Trumpism.

Vote accordingly.

JFC, the DNC and RNC do not dictate or control the party. The national committee members are patronage positions for donors and fundraisers and are elected by state party conventions to represent the party establishment in their state. They don’t pick nominees. The national committee members are followers of the elected officials in office, not leaders who pick those officials. Lobbyists and mega donors have more influence than the DNC or RNC.

The problem is, the party is backed into a corner because of VP Harris. They feel like they can't win with her at the top of the ticket, and they can't replace her without turning away a large chunk of their base. Biden running again is the only way to avoid that dilemma.

There seems to be a lot of talk of a GOP plan should Trump lose. Do the Ds have a similar plan should democracy fall in 2024? If electing Trump really means the overthrow of the government as we know it, are the Ds going to rally and do something or will they leave everyone for themselves? Do they have a stash of life rafts people can use to flee to the nearest foreign ports (Cuba, Mexico, Canada)?

I still don’t believe Trump will have the time / ability to run, so I’m not too worried. I also think all his legal troubles will turn off enough of his previous supporters that he won’t win.

To be sure, Biden has plenty of albatrosses around his neck, most recently his stance on the Hamas-Israel conflict, the perception of his ability to lead given his age, etc.
