The OP asked about rates and the truth is that most schools don't publish that data. General consensus is the Potomac, STA and GDS are in the 10-15% acceptance rate and, as others have mentioned, Flint Hill is markedly higher.

Flint Hill should be the easiest of them. It is St. Alban's entry year and not ALL of the spots go to Beauvoir kids, so while hard, it's not impossible to get in.

Flint Hill will be a shoo-in. The other will be more difficult.

GDS and STA are different vibes. Sure kids could be successful at both. But, our son applied to Landon, STA, Potomac and Sidwell (with several acceptances) and hated GDS. Think our child’s experience/views are more common. Bet there are a lot of Gds/sodwell crossovers—kids interested in both. And this is not a knock on gds. just that sta tends to be very traditional and gds is not.

You should consider The Langley School in McLean. We also applied when our kids were entering 4th and K.

It's been a wonderful experience, with the 4th grader moving on to a Big 3 for HS when he graduated.

I'd add a few schools to your list if you are trying to keep them together such as St. Andrews Episcopal, Sidwell, Sandy Springs Friends School, Bullis, Maret, etc. Each school will have different needs for their available spots for each particular year.

Just apply to any school you could see your kids at and if you are fortunate to get any offers, then decide.

This what we did 2 years in a a row. The first year, 2 schools accepted both my kids. Great schools, but we decided to wait and try again the following year for different reasons. The following year, we got where we wanted and everything has worked out well every since.

I think BVR is not as competitive as St Albans in 4th or GDS… but definitely more competitive than the other schools on OP’s list

Well, Saint Albans is all boys, but you could send your daughter to Beauvoir and they would be kind of at the same school. She could go onto NCS.

Georgetown Day School and Saint Albans as well as Beauvoir are extremely tough to get into. There are just a few spots and many many applicants, especially because they are excellent schools, well known, and they are located within the highly populated city limits. For that reason, there may be many children that are fits and who they would accept, but due to the lack of space they can’t. I’m guessing the acceptance rates are extremely low, shockingly low, perhaps. Also I think all of the popular and heavily discussed (on DCUM) schools in this area probably have low acceptance rates, but the above ones I mentioned are likely particularly tough.

I don’t think there is anywhere to find a true acceptance rate for each school. They’re just not published like they are for colleges.

St Albans is a bit school and starts in 4th so your DD can’t apply. Like PP said, it is very hard to get in because 30-35 spots go to BVR kids…

Sorry I misread and thought she was applying for 5th.
