In the 2022 Call the Midwife Christmas Special two characters who are not a couple sing the Frank & Nancy Sinatra classic “Something Stupid”. It has a lovely 2-part harmony.

Changed for good from wicked comes to mind.
But really, can’t this be any song with solid lyrics that they can figure out the harmonics to? Like that little mermaid part of your world clip where the girl goes up on the kitchen counter that pops up on everyone’s shorts for example.

I’ll Fly Away—there are lots of versions, but the one from the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack is good.

I just checked, and Spotify has a playlist called male/female duets that has some great ideas—Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville “don’t know much,” pink and ? “just give me a reason”—and I would also look at the Glee soundtracks. They probably covered a lot of great options.

First, what are your favorite harmonizing duets?

Second, My teen daughter and her boyfriend both have a talent for singing. They have both been involved on and off over years in chorus, plays and voice coaching. Anyway, the other day we had conversation about finding duets for them, especially harmonies. DD was asking for song ideas but I couldn’t think of any (correction, I kept thinking of the Arrested Dev scene where they sing Afternoon Delight lol). Or I could think of really romantic songs.

They would love to sing together, but it’s a little embarrassing to get super couple-y. Like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill “I don’t know how you do what to do..I’m so in love with you.”

I could also think of the Judds, Dixie Chicks, more like female duets. I’ve also thought of Simon and Garfunkel—not really feeling the songs I can think of.

What kind of duets or out there for this kind of situation? It’s really sweet of them, and I cant wait to see what they do.

And for the purpose of this thread, go ahead and list any favorite duets.

**Regardless of my kid, what are some of your favorite harmonizing duets?**
