I think you want a glider that rocks and reclines. I agree about your concern regarding traditional rocking chairs and wouldn’t get one for that reason; however, a lot of gliders rock, too, without the same risk. I also think the ability to recline is vital even if you’re only comfortable reclining when the baby is older and it’s safer, but we’ve had to spend many nights sleeping in that chair so it’s a necessity in my opinion. We have the Babyletto Kiwi, which I actually don’t love, but you can find many similar models. (In my opinion, the buttons should be on the outside of the armrest as I struggle to access it when DC is on that side.)
