Well, there’s no way to compare the strengths of networks.

But, frequently, there’s alot to bind the Visi girls together. There’s the common religion and Catholic culture. There’s the experience of attending grammar school together and possibly membership in the same parishes. There frequently are family connections to these schools.

And, as I’m sure you are aware, the different groups in the area do tend to gravitate to the same activities, clubs, etc.

I wouldn’t think there are many Holton alumni in those gyms on a Saturday night as Blessed Sacrament battles it out with Holy Redeemer in CYO basketball.

No, they are in pretty much all echelons of society. But they are all bound together by their association with their schools, their parishes, their clubs and even their neighborhoods.

It’s criticized by some as being insular. But the members of the community are quite happy with their world as it exists.

It’s completely possible for your kids to go to one of these Catholic schools or to be in a parish and not be a part of it. But this is the core of the “network” you have heard about. Many feel a strong allegiance to the school and to the rest of the alumni group.

If you daughter goes to Visi it’s possible she can be part of the “network” and possibly helped by it.

There’s a Prep network, a Gonzaga network, a St John’s network. Why wouldn’t there also be a Visi network of alums and supporters who help one another.

Since our son went to Gonzaga shortly after we moved here, we haven’t seen a professional (doctor, dentist, orthodontist, lawyer, accountant or real estate person) that wasn’t somehow connected to Gonzaga. We have been referred to these people and welcomed by them as part of the Gonzaga family.
