We're in the Abingdon ES district as well, but like many of our neighbors have done, we plan to send our son to Claremont, which is one of Arlington's two bilingual immersion elementary schools (Key is the other). You have to fill out a transfer application, but according to the 2011-2012 Arlington Public Schools Handbook, "Abingdon, Hoffman-Boston and Oakridge have guaranteed admission to Claremont before its defined feeder schools: Ashlawn, Barcroft, Carlin Springs, McKinley, Nottingham, Randolph and Tuckahoe." So none of our neighbors in the Abingdon school district have had problems getting into Claremont.

A couple years ago, I got great feedback on this school when we were considering purchasing in Fairlington. We didn't puchase then but were again considering now and when I checked the test scores for Abindgon they are terrible. English/Reading scores went from 90% pass rate in 2009 to just 77% pass rate in 2011.

We are considering the same...did you ever get additional feedback? Is your son at Abingdon now? How is it going? Thanks so much.

Does anyone currently send their children to Abingdon Elementary school in Arlington? We are looking to buy in Fairlington, but our son will be starting Kindergarten next year and wondered what the school was like. I have searched the forums and have found just a few comments. Thanks for your help!!
