Subject: Why do people with small businesses call themselves CEOs?
I would call myself founder if I was starting a business. Then president as it grows. Unless it gets around $10 million or higher in revenue, CEO sounds pretentious.

All businesses start small and when you register your business you are required to give yourself a title. CEO's typically run large organizations but they do not own the business. However, any business owner can call themselves a CEO. Founder would probably be a better title.

This. It boils down to ego. Plenty of small business owners don’t call themselves CEOs, but the ones who do are usually MLM or something. Makes sad humans try to make themselves eeem more important
