Yes! Especially if your kids are younger than teens.
We have a rule that you can get up after you finish, but you have to take your plate to the kitchen and do something quiet so you don't disturb others.

My DH takes forever as well. The kids can be excused but I feel bad leaving him to sit and finish his meal alone. But it makes me nuts.

Yes, it’s fine. My son has low processing speed. He takes an eternity for everything.

We do this for day to day family meals, yes. If we have guests or it is a special occasion or holiday etc, then no.

Can the others be excused? In our case, it’s DH. He is the slowest eater on the planet. The kids and I are long done. We usually get up after the other 3 is us have finished. Is this bad? Not at like a formal or extended family dinner or anything like that, just a typical night.
