You can see approximate 11-12 IMX scores for PVS kids here:

https://www.swimmingrank.com/mdva/pv/scy_girls_11_12_imx.html

and here:

https://www.swimmingrank.com/mdva/pv/scy_boys_11_12_imx.html

These rankings aren't exact and include swims from both the 2022-2023 and the 2023-2024 seasons so take with a grain of salt.

This also lists kids by their current age, even if they will be 13 by the time the meet happens. A 12 year old can qualify to compete in the 13-14 events with their 12 year old points as long as the points were all earned in the same season while they were 12. Not all of the 12 year olds on the current 11-12 list will be competing in the 12 year old event.

2000+ is pretty good (top 100 or so in PVS). 2500+ is good (top 50 or so in PVS). 3000+ is great (top 20 or so in PVS). 3500+ is elite.

And for those that don’t know, you need 1800 points to be able to compete in the meet.

I also heard that UMD refused to host again because some kids vandalized one of the locker rooms, but I’m not sure if this is true.

Yeah, that's the rumor - it maybe true. They still host some events, maybe not for younger kids?

It was the 13-14 year old boys that vandalized the locker room last year. UMD still hosts a whole bunch of swim meets involving all age groups.

So a spin off - I thought the IMX score was a 14&U creation to push kids at the younger ages to develop all of their strokes. Once they reach HS level they start specializing in certain events and by college they need to be strong in three events to be competitive.

But looking at this it shows older kids in the criteria.

Oo intersting - looks like USA swim's site is also saying the same thing: https://www.usaswimming.org/times/imx-imr

You can still calculate an IMX score for the swimmers that are 15-18, but I don’t think there is a separate IMX meet for them like the age groupers have. The reality also is the HS swimmers in the elite training groups are competent in all the strokes, there are obviously strokes and events that are their focus and what they will look to swim in college, but it’s not like they are B level or below in anything.

Yes for our club - but it's optional "family" travel, not team travel. My DC is 9 and just moved up to the IMX distances and at this point is on the bubble in terms of qualifying, not sure if we'll even bother this year even if they do get the points.

We are with NCAP and will be going to the meet. Kid is bummed that it’s not at UMD. We heard that UMD had already committed to host several meets in January and didn’t want to take on another.

I feel like most of the clubs attended this meet if they had a kid qualify for it.
