I don't know, but I think it is probably fair to say that if only 2 seniors have a 4.0, but more than half the class has SAT scores over 1400, there is probably some grade deflation happening.

Well, they all have private SAT tutors and take the SAT multiple times so I’m not sure you can connect SAT scores to grade deflation.

Wish they would allow only one SAT or ACT.

To what would be a fair grade.

Inflated or deflated relative to what?

Parents on this forum always want to bring in public schools if they think it will deflect from what their school is doing or make their school look better.

Do you think your student gets fair grades or do you think their grades are inflated or deflated?

Because inflation and deflation are all relative. It doesn't happen in a vacuum.

What do you mean? I think in this context, there is not a lot of grade inflation at privates and it is helpful to think of the whole universe of what is out there. Didn't think it seemed strange.

A third of the class at APS high schools are valedictorians. It's such a joke. Learning that is what prompted my switch to private.

Agree, no definitive list.

I would say grade inflating schools are those where more than 10% of the graduating class has above a 4.0, which would be the W publics.

I don't know of any privates that grade inflate, including Holton.

Certainly, there may be schools that deflate grades more, such as those that not give any bump for an honors/AP class.

What do you think is the 50th percentile GPA at Holton by the time of college application?

Can we get a definitive list on which schools are inflating grades and which ones are deflating?

I’ll start:
Holton - inflating
