To be fair, I do think the BOE as part-time employees have way too much on their plate. However, I don’t feel positive thoughts about another fill time position going just toward communications (salary is at the administrator level).

So, is this new? Or is someone leaving? How can we get more teachers and less office bloat?

“I think a lot of the public, the voters might think when they fund education, they’re funding classrooms and teachers and school buildings. Yet the reality we see is we’re funding administrators, consultants, mentors. And I think that’s where we need transparency

Where did you get that number and what does it cover? I can thing of a lot of things that could fall into non-teaching staff(ex: building services, security, food services, bus drivers, Human Resources, accounting, finance, technology, social workers, psychologist, nurse, program evaluation, etc.)

Now this is a correct statement. That’s not to say that central office and admin shouldn’t hire internally, but it does create a strain on direct student contact positions if their is not a strong pipeline of teachers to fill the open spot

Any new positions don't take away money from anyone. Currently working teachers will continue to get paid exactly the same until the next negotiation. And you calling a stranger an idiot is the exact reason why teachers don't want to deal with a holes and their kids.

LOL The Board of Education moves money around all year long, all the time. Hope you aren’t a teacher because you are clueless about the organization you work for.

Teachers lose when admin is added.

You are an idiot. There is one MCPS Operating Budget and spending money on administrators means less money for teachers.

This needs to be repeated.

I think this is needed. The more autonomous and separate the BOE becomes from MCPS, the better. Give them their own staff and resources so they don't have to rely only on the crumbs McKnight and her team throw at them.

I do understand the need for this role. However, I still think there are way too many people not directly working with the students. I wish there could be a complete overhaul of central office.

People expect more information, faster than ever before. They expect emails, social media, letters, phone calls (which require a script), and they expect it all promptly. They expect to know everything immediately.

Supply and demand, OP. Pretty basic concept.

This is new, and comes in light of the Beidelman situation. I think it is proper for the board to have their own staff who work for them directly and not Dr. McKnight. There has been too much blurring of those lines.
