Kida can miss the majority of the school year and nothing happens so nobody cares.

The admitted students days are CRITICAL. My son was about to accept one college's offer of admission, and reject another, then went to their respective admitted student days, and switched. They were very different schools, and once there (despite having visited earlier), the vibe was such that he changed his mind, and he's glad he made that choice.

Colleges show you a lot more on those days than on regular tour days: they show more of the dorms, they feed you actual dining hall food, and sometimes a kid realizes that this won't work out, but that another one is more their style.

But who cares at that point? It's not going to get them un-admitted! The coach is just hurting himself or herself.

Some of my senior students have missed a bajillion days this fall for “college visit”, “college interview”, or “college recruitment visit”.

Some were legit, some were a vacation with a college visit tacked on. All were excused.

Just go.

We went to these events on weekends in February, spring break in March, and on Easter Monday.

It’s a day and your kid was already admitted to college who cares what the school says. I remember being early admitted and treating my senior year like y’all lucky I’m here at all. I mean I kept my grades high but I was like my ticket has been punched leave me alone.

Colleges have an “accepted student day” probably sometime in March. Go! I found them very informative. I wouldn’t care what the school said.

Wondering if there is a written policy for this or if it’s school-by-school.
