Looking for suggestions for nice but casual restaurant ideas (we live in Rockville and brother's fam lives in Reston so neither of us are super familiar with the restaurants in these places, but both places seem good as they have a lot of restaurants and are sort of central for us all). Thanks for the suggestions.

Definitely skip the chains. We like Guardados (Spanish/tappad), Kadhi (Indian) and Bacchus (Lebanese) in Bethesda

I love all 3 of these. However, my parents in their mid 80s, who have basically been plain eaters their entire lives, would not.

Bethesda restaurants are pretty bad. I’d probably take my parents to Matchbox, Silver, Mon Ami Gabi or Clydes.

Of these Mon Ami Gabi has the best food, but can be very loud.

For Downtown Bethesda, I like Hawkers (Asian) and Matchbox (pizza plus traditional and Southern style menu items). Both places have varied menus with some excellent choices.
