Subject: I Hate Save the Date
I like the idea of the STD, but nowadays people try to get them out earlier and earlier and "call dibs" on any event that day. If I get an STD a year in advance for an acquaintance but 8 months out for someone close, I'm going to go with the closer person. It's not a competition on who gets them out first.

Save the dates are very common for weddings and helpful for planning purposes.
I don’t understand why they would be annoying… It’s a piece of mail, informing me that someone is getting married.

Love save the dates. We plan time off of work and vacations a year ahead. Save the date cards help us work everything out. I'd rather have a save the date card than miss something or have to reschedule something else.

I like them. My entire family is out of town, so I appreciate knowing when to get the best airfare deals and to save vacation days.

This is pretty traditional for weddings. A century ago you only got the real invitation a month in advance, so knowing my niece is getting married next June is really helpful.

It’s not arrogant. They’re letting you know they are getting married on that date and will be inviting you. If you want to attend, save the date. If you don’t, don’t. THIS is not a thing to get aggravated about.

They make sense to me. I make a lot of plans a year in advance. I think it is thoughtful. I don’t have to cancel camps or reschedule vacation if I know about a wedding in advance.
